Hi! I'm Erin. An Early Childhood Educator, travel enthusiast, book reviewer, chocolate eater, CF survivor, and mama of two giggling curious four year olds.
A little more about me:
On Bambini Travel I write about GOing places, READing books, and PLAYing with kids. Three of my favorite things. After working with young children for over 15 years, I believe strongly that learning happens best when it is internally motivated and placed in a meaningful context. Here I talk about the idea of learning through adventure. Some popular terms in the education world today are emergent curriculum, STEM based learning, project based approach, and hands on learning. These are all good elements that are keys to a solid education and they certainly impact the way I teach, but I believe there is a missing piece; exploring the world. It is important for young children to have real experiences in the world to ground learning and give it greater meaning and context. This can happen on a broad international scope as children travel the world with their parents or it can happen in communities wherever they live. The important piece is opening the door and exploring beyond your home or classroom. These experiences have a powerful way of inspiring and deepening learning in a way that should play a role in all levels of education.
My favorite place to go is the beach. Right now Alabama is the closest favorite, but my favorites are beaches on the East or West coast with huge waves. Italy and Australia are at the top of my Travel list in part because of the beaches. Someday I want to live by the beach and wake up every morning to the sound of the waves.
READ Good Books
My favorite book is probably Matilda by R. Dahl. I've read it cover to cover countless times. I also adore Anne of Green Gables, have read all of John Grisham's books, and read travel guide books cover to cover like they are fiction.
I am a mama to twin four year olds so playing is a part of my life every day. With them I love to play outside. We bring everything outside with us from trains to art materials when the weather is cooperating.
I'd love to hear more from you. Send me an e-mail, leave a comment on a post, or share with me on facebook. Meeting new people and sharing ideas is the most inspiring part of this job.
