Book Review: Alfies Feet
It will not come as a surprise, especially to anyone who follows us on Goodreads, that I am obsessed with Shirley Hughes. I adore all of her books for the way that they capture the every day magic in the lives of children. The little triumphs, the chaos and mess, the quiet warm moments. I was read her books as a child and remember pouring over every detail in the illustrations. I'm thrilled that my toddlers now love them as much as I do and that I can share her treasures with you! Here is one that is perfect for reading around Spring time with its Puddle Walks and rainy days.
ALFIE'S FEET is a little slice of perfection. This is the second book in the Alfie series. Somehow, a brother and sister relationship, the importance of boots for keeping your feet dry, a discussion about left feet and right feet, the delights of sploshing in puddles, and the wonder of childhood are all warmly described in one simple little book. Shirley Hughes is the master at understanding and depicting the importance and brilliance in the every day moments of life. This is the perfect book to get you excited to go "splish, splash, SPLOSH!" in some puddles.
