DIY Name Train
Did you know that Craft Foam sticks to the side of a tub when it gets wet? When I learned this about a year ago I was so excited. The possibilities! Our first attempt was this Counting Train and today I have another simple train related foam activity.
*Cut train shapes out of your foam. I did this free hand while looking at a Thomas train for inspiration. Don't worry about this being perfect. The general shape is great.
*Write the letters of your child's name on the cars. I put the first letter of each of their names on an engine and then the letters of their names on cars alternating orange and white. If you are doing this activity with one child, considering adding a few extra letters or your name to make it a little more difficult.
Put the foam train engines on the wall of your tub and the other cars in the bath water.
Encourage your preschooler to find the letters of their name to build their train.
Help as needed, such as "hmm..I see the J. What comes next?" or "D comes next. That's the letter that Daddy starts with."
Leave your trains on the wall of the tub or let them dry on a towel and pack them away for another day.
*Working on numbers? Try our Counting Train.
*Work on patterning by creating patterns with train cars.
