30+ Collage Ideas for 1-5 Year Olds
The word collage comes from the French word coller which means to paste. The traditional collage is pasting various materials onto a flat surface. Collages spark curiosity, invite creativity, and encourage the development of fine motor skills. One of the reasons I love collages are that they are adaptable for any age. Even the young infants can smear glue or stick things to contact paper. Older children can start to make pictures with different materials or even create a collaborative picture or image. This is a perfect starting spot for any art project.
These are a few of the many books on my shelves. They all contain ideas and tips for doing collage work with young children.

Benefits of Collage:
*Collage making encourages creativity through open ended exploration of varied materials.
*Collage making develops fine motor skills as children tear, cut with scissors, and manipulate materials.
*Collage making is easy to set up and can be done with materials on hand.
