Museums, Circuses, and our Neighborhoods are full of colors that children find intriguing. This game is one way to practice learning color names and sorting every day objects by color.
To prepare this game:
1. Cut out photos or magazine pictures of different colored objects. Try to find an even number.
2. Label your construction paper pieces with their color name (ex. we used Red, Yellow, Green, and Blue)
3. Laminate the construction paper to a magnetic surface - refrigerators or washing machines work great.
4. Stick or glue magnets to the back of your photos.
5. Laminate the pictures.
Set up the invitation to play by arranging the magnets near the color squares. Match one or two to demonstrate the concept. Depending on the age, you can do this with your toddlers. For older children who have had some practice with matching, simply setting up a couple of matches would stimulate their interest.
