Inside a Pumpkin
Cover your floor with a covering (we use a huge old curtain) and set your pumpkin or pumpkins on top.
Invite your child to explore the pumpkins. This will be a largely child directed. Allow them to explore without much interruption. When they seem satisfied or are losing interest, ask if they would like to see what is inside the pumpkin. Remove the pumpkin to a safe place and use a knife to open it up. Once cut, again allow them to explore freely. Use language to help describe what younger ones are doing ("I see the insides sticking to your fingers") or ask questions of older children to help them describe their experience ("tell me about what you are feeling..")
Large Knife (for parent use only)
