Favorite Adventures : 2014
2014 was a busy year for us. There were a lot of changes. A lot of ups and downs. And a fair amount of time spent on the road. We have a lot of exciting travel plans for 2015, but first I thought we'd look back and reflect a little on all the adventures of the year we just left.
2014 began in Baraboo, WI. After a visit to the fire station, our kids spent much of the Spring fighting imaginary fighters and counting fire hydrants on our walks. If you haven't visited your local firestation, this is an easy, fun adventure I highly recommend for toddlers and preschoolers.
2014 was the year we spent a long weekend in Chicago with the kids. The previous year we visited for the St Patrick's Day parade, but this year we found time for a long weekend in Chicago. We spent three days splashing in the hotel pool, seeing the big city sites like the amazing Chicago Children's Museum and the Lincoln Park Zoo, and spending time exploring together.
2014 was the year we spent two whole weeks in my hometown of Milwaukee. In between moving out of our house in Baraboo and relocating to Mississippi, we spent the beginning of July with family in Wisconsin. We spent a lot of the time visiting some of my favorite Milwaukee spots like Atwater Beach and experiencing new things like the Dragon Boat Festival at the lakefront.
2014 was the year we moved. We packed up everything we owned and moved across the country from Wisconsin to Mississippi. We got settled in a new place, started meeting new people, and found new favorite places. One of our first post-move adventures was our trip to Biloxi where we had a lovely, restful weekend on the coast.
2014 was also the year we started exploring the southern part of the US. Previous to our move to Mississippi the only real time I had spent in the South was on a road trip when I was about 8 from Wisconsin to Florida. My husband and I are both excited for the opportunities for exploration that surround our new home state. Our first adventure outside of Mississippi was for a Fall weekend in Nashville.
2014 was a busy year. The move and adjusting to a new home in a new state occupied much of our time. However, the adventures we squeezed in were fun and memorable.
Now off to begin the adventures of 2015...
