How to Plan an Awesome Summer: Part 2
In part one of our Awesome Summer Guide, I shared how to start getting yourself organized. Today, I'm going to share some field trip ideas. We love having time at play every day to play, create, and explore. We also love going on adventures. Here are some easy and fun field trips that will work for almost any age.
We typically go for morning adventures. This works especially well in our southern summers when the mornings are hot and the afternoons are steamy. We spend our afternoons inside, in the shade in the backyard, or splashing in water. In the summer, like many families, we take more trips. We are planning some day trips to the beach and the Petrified Forest, we are also planning some longer trips for weekends in new cities and to visit friends and family up north. How fast the summer will fly. Here are some ideas for field trips. I have divided them into places we go WEEKLY and places we go about once a MONTH, but they are just intended to be ideas. Make them work for your family.
LIBRARY : We do this year round. Here are some reasons we love the library.
POOL : swimming will be a huge part of our summer.
WALK : around the neighborhood. Keep it simple or more focused with a scavenger hunt or focus.
BIKE RIDE : My son in particular loves riding his bike and so weekly practice either in our neighborhood or on a trail is attempted.
MONTHLY OR LESS:
OCEAN, LAKE or RIVER
HIKE and/or NATURE CENTER : a lot, like this one, have programs for young kids.
BOAT RIDE : Tips of Canoeing with Young Children
MARINA : boat watching was a favorite for us last year.
SPLASH PAD or WATERPARK
