Art + Travel with Crayola
(This post is sponsored by Crayola and we were giving free samples in exchange for an honest review. Opinions are entirely that of me and my kids)
Crayola has long been my go-to for art materials. They are consistently high quality and reasonably priced. I recently shared a post with some Road Trip Play Ideas for Every Child where I mentioned some creative travel materials from Crayola. Like everything else with kids, there is no one size fits all approach when it comes to travel entertainment. However, if your child enjoys to draw and create, then Crayola has some more fabulous travel activities for you!
NEW MINIONS THEMED MATERIALS
If your child has seen the Minions movie or even if they just think the Minions are fun, the new Crayola materials included some fantastic Minions themed options. Our kids haven't seen the movie, but they were thrilled with the minions nonetheless and really enjoyed the silly pictures.
*Crayola Color Wonder Mess Free Minions Pack (find it online)
This was our favorite. If you haven't tried the Color Wonder markers and paper, they are a great travel option. The markers only work on the special paper so you child won't color on the carseat or windows. The only downside is that there is a slight delay between when you color and when the color appears. Our kids had a hard time with this when they were younger toddlers. From about 2+ though this has been a fun travel activity. The perforated pages made it easy for our twins to share.
*Crayola Color and Sticker Pages - Minions (find it online)
This is a Minions themed coloring sheet collection with a few pages of minions stickers in the back. The stickers were our favorite part. I would recommend this one for 3+. I liked that the pages weren't in a book but rather separate. This made it easy to share between our kids. They each put a coloring sheet onto of a large book and some crayons in their carseat cup holder and happily colored.
*Crayola Coloring & Activity Pad - Minions (find it online)
Our kids enjoyed this pack of markers and activities. There is a storage pocket inside the front cover but one of our kids tore it on the first day so we ended up using a Ziploc bag for the markers. This activity book works great for us when we are waiting at a restaurant or on an airplane, but since our four year olds aren't able to read directions yet it is hard for them to complete independently in the car.
The other two Crayola travel materials were not Minions themed, but ended up being our favorites. The first was the Crayola Washable Dry Erase Travel Pack. (find it online) This is the first thing my daughter wanted to try. The pack contains a dry erase board, dry erase markers, a towel for wiping, and reusable stickers. They are all contained within the travel case which fits well on a small lap. I think the inclusion of the reusable stickers was creative. Our kids loved that everything had a little spot and that they could carry it around with the handle.
The Crayola Window Markers (find it online) are something I have been curious about for a while. The name is pretty self explanatory, these are markers you can use on the window. They go on smooth and wipe off easily. We tried them both at home on the windows and while the kids were riding in the back seat. For them, I think it was a thrill to be able to draw on the windows. I was personally relieved at home easily they washed off with just a baby wipe or a damp washcloth. The only slight downside was that depending on the light or background behind the window they were sometimes hard to see. They have however been the most requested materials of the group.
