One of my favorite things about Fall is taking a trip to the farm. Wherever we have lived, we have always found a farm to love and return to each year. In Minnesota we loved this farm, during our time in Wisconsin we loved this one, and last weekend we began our search for a farm to love in Mississippi.
When you first arrive at the Nichols-Boyd Pumpkin Patch you are directed to park in a grass field and head towards a barn. The barn was the low point of our trip. After paying (thank goodness we happened to have some cash) we joined other families waiting on lines of hay bales. Our super eager three year olds were literally bouncing up and down while we waited for our group number to be called.
Once we left the barn, our trip turned around. On the hay ride you get treated to a tour of their farm and a wide arrange of animals. Unique cattle from Africa, a zebra-donkey combo, and gorgeous horses. Our kids were fascinated. Then you are dropped off in a pumpkin patch and here is where the fun truly starts. We picked out great pumpkins (included in the price) before heading to the adjacent play space. Here our kids climbed hay bales, swung from the trees, and ran through a child sized maze. It was the perfect carefree fun space for a day in the country.
Overall, we had a great time and would definitely return to this Pumpkin Patch.
