If you are looking for a much needed getaway from a Wisconsin winter, look no further than Blue Harbor Resort. I imagine, with their beautiful sheltered beaches, this would also be a fantastic summer getaway, but we had a blast during our February weekend. Blue Harbor has comfortable, spacious rooms and a fantastic indoor waterpark. Unlike our other weekend in posts, I am not going to provide an itinerary for each day. Rather, go at your own pace. Follow your normal schedule and fit in walks on the beach (yes even in winter) and lots of time at the waterpark where it works for you. This is not so much a trip of great variety, but you will have fun.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom condo, but there are a wide range of options. The condo was great for us because it provided a fully stocked kitchen and a couple of bedrooms, which allowed our little ones to easily follow their typical schedule.
At two, the waterpark had a lot for them to do. This would obviously only increase as they got older. There is a shallow kid's pool with two slides. They enjoyed bobbing on the lazy river with us. There is a structure to climb with various wheels to turn and buckets that pour water. They were quite happy for our long weekend.
In the hotel there are also a couple of decent restaurants and a Kids Club for activities ages 12 and younger. In the summer months, there is a beach attached to the resort on Lake Michigan as well. In the winter, this was simply a pretty place for a walk. We were quite content and busy for the weekend, but if you get restless, the Above and Beyond Children's Museum was a quick drive into town from the resort. We spent one fun morning playing there during our stay.
*Water Park is kid friendly. Splash area and toddler pool with warm water and little slides.
*Life jackets are provided.
*The pool area has a changing room with showers and lockers for rent. Don't feel like you need to run through the snow in your swim suits.
*Highly recommend doing a Saturday-Monday weekend if you can. Most people check out Sunday, so you have the waterpark virtually to yourselves for the day.
*There are no high chairs by the cafe in the splash park, but they are available at the restaurant.
