Vancouver BC is one of my favorite destinations. We visited in the Fall which, if you can, is a stunning time to visit. The whole area is alive with huge gorgeous color. Regardless of when you visit, Vancouver is a fun city filled with family friendly things to do and see. It is the perfect combination of outdoor adventures and big city excitment. Below are some of our favorites.
We stayed just a few blocks from Sunset Beach Park. A beautiful place to stroll (stroller friendly), watch the sunset, or I would imagine enjoy the beach in warmer weather. The perfect place for a walk.
Dr Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden
This is the Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden in Chinatown. It is a beautiful step back into 15th Century China. Admittedly not the first thing you think of when you think kids attraction, but it is a unique place to explore year round. (Not however super stroller friendly) It is FREE for kids under 5 and they also have a family rate for 2 adults and 2 children.
Ride a Water Taxi
Vancouver has a couple different River or Water Taxi services. If you have transportation fans like our kids, this is a fun little adventure. The False Creek Ferry was the most convienent for us with service to Granville Island, the Science Museum, and the Maritime Museum.
I have shared some reasons we love Granville Island in the past. It is a great family friendly place to visit year round. The farmer's market is our favorite part because it is truly an impressive array of sights, smells, sounds, and tastes, but there are other fun things to do on the island as well.
Our other absolute favorite part of Vancouver is Stanley Park. I think if we lived in Vancouver this would be a weekly adventure for us right now.
This incredible urban park makes you forget about being in the middle of a huge city. Bike, swim, explore, hike - this park has it all. Make sure to take some time to either bike or walk around the trails. Especially in the Fall, the trees are some of the most beautiful I have seen.
The Vancouver Aquarium is set within Stanley Park. It is one of the more impressive aquariums we have visited. The range of animals is outstanding. It is a well laid out, family friendly, thoughtful aquarium. Make sure to check the event schedule for the day. There are a lot of things going on that you won't want to miss.
Vancouver is huge and wonderful. We truly only scratched the surface of what it has to offer. This is one of those places you visit and you keep wanting to go back again.
Have you been to Vancouver? I'd love to hear about your favorite parts in the comments!
